USMC HMMWV - Revell 1/72 M966 Tow, M977 Maxi Ambulance

I feel like I'm finally making some progress on something. I finished my first two HMMWVs for my modern USMC force for Force on Force. Since I finally managed to score the 4 M1114 versions made by Dragon I figured I better practice on something first. These are secondary vehicles and will only appear in a couple of the Scenarios for the Road to Baghdad. So I wasn't to concerned with how rusty I am putting together plastic kits. I had forgotten just how many pieces they can manage to cram into one of these kits. There is one more box with these two models to put together and hopefully by the time I'm done with that the others will have arrived.
These are Revell 1/72nd scale kits so I threw in an Elheim modern US Marine and the S&S Cougars just to give a visual on sizes. I think the 1/72nd scale kits maybe a little on the small size, but it won't be a problem for the game.

Airbrush Class with Aaron Lovejoy - Day Two

I didn't work on the Nurgle Demon Prince at all today. The airbrushing work is done on that one and I need to go in with the brush and finish the detailing. Today I concentrated on the vehicles I brought. Over all I'm fairly pleased with the results. Then I took pictures, there is nothing as unforgiving as looking at a picture blown up to 5x actual size. They are now at the point of needing brushwork to finish them off. Windows, headlights, tail lights, license plates and weathering, that sort of thing. I'm going to rust out the Soviet Lada Rivas pretty good. I'm undecided on how to finish off the rest. The Cougar MRAPs will get weathered and dusted up. For the most part it looks like Marine units keep their vehicles pretty clean. So here are the results from today:

Airbrush Class with Aaron Lovejoy - Day One

Its been a long day here. Spent most of the day with 10 other people attempting to learn how to airbrush better. All of us had one main model to work on (it came as part of the class). I think there were five we could pick from (all from GW); Dark Elf Dragon w/rider, Manticore, Chimera, Demon Prince and something I don't remember. Anyway it was a good day I think I have picked up more control of the airbrush, learned how to make use of really quick masks and I really managed to reduce the number of clogs. I used a variety of paints today and didn't have problems with any of them; Vallejo Model Color, Vallejo Model Air (awesome!), Reaper Master Series and Reaper HDs. They all came through like champs for me today. So here are a few pictures. Post of these are to the point of needing regular paint brush work rather than airbrush work.
The Nurgle Demon Prince will end up in my oldest son's Demon Army
Got started on the Cougar MRAPs for my modern USMC.

Tonight - 20mm MRAPs for the modern USMC Force

I have spent a lot of this week looking for my old Vikings, working on the Norman commission so this evening I decided I would do something just for me. So out came the 20mm resin vehicles that arrived 3 or 4 weeks ago. First up were the MRAPs from S&S Models. I really like the smaller 4x4 version, it has a chunky feel that really appeals to me. The 6x6 version kind of seems like a stretched Limo. The main bodies were cast in a different resin from the wheel panels and they come along with some nice white metal detail parts. Assembly is straight forward. I was disappointed with the large number of air bubbles that will need to be filled on both vehicles. I also assembled S&S Models Russian Sedan (I'm not sure what its called). Solid resin body with white metal wheels and again lots of air bubbles. I think I'm going to take some shots after I have finished filling the holes. I think these are going to paint up pretty nice, they are just going to need a little more work.
After that I put together the vehicles from the Hobby Den; a Mercedes, a Toyota SUV, a Land Rover and a pickup truck. The bodies were much nicer on these although a little fill and finish work is still required. The wheels are all cast from resin and quite frankly are awful. Fortunately I'll be able to hide a good portion of them with mud.
