"At five in the afternoon Swiss time company's aircraft taxied and stopped at the Bern International Airport, in front of the main terminal. Bond walked quickly to the building.
Entry to the country was effective as always, and he arrived in the entry hall, carrying a strong pig leather suit bag on his shoulder and looked quickly the signs carried by drivers seeking his name. 
M had given him the name of a contact person. - Freddie von Grüsse. I have never met the guy, but he is a "von", so probably he is unbearable pain in the ass. You know,what kind of people Swiss cream are, James.
None of the drivers raised Bond-sign, so he went ahead arrivals hall and was approaching the information desk, when the deep, pleasant female voice whispered in his ear. - James Bond?"

This day we traveled to Thun and to the Alps!



A new beautiful day had begun in fabulous Schweizerhof Bern! Friendly and polite people welcomed us to breakfast in Jack´s Brasserie. We had a most wonderful continental breakfast!

We met again Anja Ullmann, we had the most luxurious time in Hotel Schweizerhof Bern!

Hotel´s concierge escorted us to the train station and helped us with the luggage. The hotel has such a perfect service! Everything works!

The location of the hotel is ideal, only one minute walk to train station. We took a train to Thun, which is a really nice and beautiful place, with a 007 connection, of course.
The duration of the train trip was 22 minutes from Bern to Thun, and without the Swiss Pass the price would have been 12,76 EUR / adult, and 6,38 EUR / child.




Thun Railway station



Thun is a city and municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland with about 43,783 inhabitants (around 90,000 in the agglomeration), as of 31 December 2013.
It is located where the River Aare flows out of Lake Thun (Thunersee), 30 km south of Bern. Besides tourism, machine and precision instrument engineering, the largest garrison in the country, the food industry, armaments and publishing are of economic importance to Thun.





We visited the Rathausplatz (town hall) which is 9 minutes away walk from the Thun railway station. From the Rathausplatz you can see the Thun Castle, which looks great!




Thun Castle (German: Schloss Thun) is a castle in the city of Thun, in the Swiss canton of Bern. It was built in the 12th century, today houses the Thun Castle museum, and is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

The castle museum is housed in the five floors of the tower, and includes cultural and historic displays showing the development of the region over some 4,000 years. It is open daily between February and October, and on Sundays only for the rest of the year. The great hall is used for concerts or plays, and can be hired for private events. If you want to visit the castle, walk to address Schlossberg 2, it is only 200 meters away from the Rathausplatz. The castle is open 10.00 - 17.00 and a family ticket is 13,00 EUR.

"Within ten minutes, they were settled into her three-year-old white Porsche, which was in need of a wash, and heading out of Berne on route six, following the river Aare to Thun, the lovely old town which always reminded Bond of the Frankenstein story. If you stand in the small Town Hall Square - the Rathausplatz - in Thun, and look up beyond the Rathaus itself, you can see the great castle looming above you, and the whole view is reminiscent of every Frankenstein movie ever made"

We found restaurant Steinmann, which was lovely. We had ice creams! The ice creams were 10,80 CHF each but worth their price.

Our original plan was to travel by train to Interlaken Ost, but the bus station was right there next to the train station, and the bus was just about to leave and Swiss Passes were valid on busses also, so we decided to travel by bus, and were lucky to do that, since the views were gorgeous!

On our way to Interlaken we saw a boat called Berner Oberland, which is also one alternative to travel from Thun to Interlaken. It sails along the Lake Thun (Thunersee).





In Interlaken Ost we changed to train, this time heading to Lauterbrunnen. This journey took only seven minutes. In Lauterbrunnen we had to change into a post bus, which took us to Stechelberg, and one more transportation vehicle was needed before we reached Mürren.









Stechelberg´s cable car station is actually a filming location for Bond movie "On Her Majesty´s Secret Service" (1969), starring George Lazenby. Here Irma Bunt (Ilse Steppat) says farewell to Blofeld's "Angels of Death", when they leave from Piz Gloria.

From Stechelberg you have to take Cable car in order to reach Mürren. From the cable car station Mürren Schilthornbahn, we had only one minute walk to our hotel, so long travel day was finally over and we had reached our hotel.

After the perfect Bond dinner we went out for walking to explore village of Mürren. We knew that there are some Bond related hotels in the area.



Hotel Blumental was the home of Swissski experts during filming of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969).



Hotel Bellevue was one of the hotels where the stuntmen and technicians of "OHMSS" (1969) stayed during the filming.




In Hotel Alpenruh you can choose to eat the breakfast either in hotel´s breakfast buffet or in 3 km altitude, in Schilthorn´s revolving 007 restaurant.

007-matkakertomus: Thun & Mürren (SVEITSI) 2014

Tänään matkaamme Thunin kaupunkiin ja Alpeille!




Heräsimme uuteen upeaan päivään loisteliaassa Hotel Schweizerhof Bernissä! Ystävälliset ja kohteliaat ihmiset toivottivat meidät tervetulleiksi aamupalalle Jack's Brasserieen. Söimme mitä mahtavimman "Continental" - aamiaisen.

Ennen lähtöämme tapasimme vielä Anja Ullmannin ja toivottelimme hyvät kesän jatkot ja kiittelimme mahtavasta mahdollisuudesta vierailla upeassa Hotel Schweizerhof Bernissä.

Matkalaukkumme vietiin edellämme juna-asemalle, joten meidän ei tarvinnut niitä sinne kantaa. Hotel Schweizerhofilla on täydellinen palvelu. Kaikki toimii!

Hotellin sijanti on ihanteellinen, vain minuutin kävelymatka juna-asemalle. Hyppäsimme junaan, joka vei meidän Thunin kaupunkiin, joka on todella mukava ja kaunis paikka ja onhan sillä tietysti Bond-yhteys, kun siellä pysähdyttiin...

Junamatka Bernistä Thuniin kesti vain 22 minuuttia ja ilman Swiss Passia se olisi maksanut 12,76 EUR / aikuinen ja 6,38 EUR / lapsi.



Thunin rautatieasema



Thun on kaupunki ja kunta Thunin hallinnollisella alueella Bernin kantonissa Sveitsissä ja siellä on on noin 43 783 asukasta (noin 90 000 taajamassa) 31.12.2013 tilanteen mukaan. 
Se sijaitsee paikassa jossa Aare virtaa Thuninjärvestä (Thunersee), 30 km Bernistä etelään. Turismin lisäksi, kone- ja tarkkuusvälinetekniikalla, maan suurimmalla varuskunnalla, elintarviketeollisuudella, aseteollisuudella ja julkaisutoiminnalla on taloudellista merkitystä Thunille.





Kävelimme Rathausplatzille, joka on yhdeksän minuutin kävelymatkan päässä Thunin juna-asemalta. Rathausplatzilta näkee Thunin linnan, joka on upean näköinen.




Thun Castle (Saksaksi: Schloss Thun) on linna Thunin kaupungissa, Bernin kantonissa, Sveitsissä. Se rakennettiin 1100-luvulla ja nykyään siellä on Thun Castle - museo.
 
Linnamuseo jakautuu tornin viiteen eri kerrokseen ja siellä on kulttuurisia ja historiallisia näyte-esineitä, jotka kertovat alueen yli 4000-vuotisesta kehityksestä. Museo on avoinna joka päivä helmikuusta lokakuuhun ja vain sunnuntaisin loppuvuoden ajan. Suurta salia käytetään konsertteihin ja esitelmiin ja sitä voi varata yksityistapahtumiin. Mikäli haluat vierailla linnassa, kävele Schlossberg 2 - osoitteeseen, joka on vain 200 metrin päässä Rathausplatzilta. Linna on avoinna 10.00 - 17.00 ja perhelippu sinne maksaa 13 euroa.

"Kymmenessä minuutissa he istuivat Flickan Porschessa, joka tarvitsi pesua, ja lähtivät Bernistä kuutostietä pitkin seuraten Aare-jokea Thuniin, ihastuttavaan vanhaan kaupunkiin, joka toi aina Bondin mieleen Frankensteinin tarinan. Kun seisoo Thunin pienellä Rathausplatzilla ja katsoo itse raatihuoneen taakse, näkee suuren linnan kohoavan yläpuolellaan ja näkymä tuo mieleen joka ikisen Frankensteinista tehdyn elokuvan."

Rathausplatzilta takaisin kohti juna-asemaa, mutta matkalla poikkesimme ravintola Steinmanniin, joka oli oikein mukava paikka. Söimme jäätelöt terasilla hintaan 10,80 CHF / jäätelö. Hieman arvokasta, mutta jäätelöt olivat hintansa väärtejä.

Alkuperäisenä suunnitelmanamme oli jatkaa junalla kohti Interlaken Ostia, mutta koska bussiasema oli kätevästi aivan vieressämme, bussi lähdössä ja Swiss Passit kävivät bussiin, niin ajattelimme mennä bussilla Interlakeniin. Ratkaisu oli oikein hyvä, sillä maisemat tuolla reitillä olivat silmää hiveleviä.

Matkallamme Interlakeniin näimme myös Berner Oberland - laivan, jolla voi myös matkustaa Thunista Interlakeniin. Laiva matkaa pitkin Thuninjärveä.








Interlaken Ostiin saavuttuamme vaihdoimme sitten junaan ja nyt määränpää oli Lauterbrunnen. Tämän matkan kesto oli ainoastaan 7 minuuttia. Lauterbrunnenissa hyppäsimme postibussiin, joka matkasi Stechelbergiin ja siellä vielä viimeinen kulkuvälineen vaihto, sillä matka Stechelbergistä Mürreniin tehtiin köysiratavaunulla. 







Stechelbergin köysirata-asema on itseasiassa "Hänen Majesteettinsa salaisessa palveluksessa" (1969) - elokuvan kuvauspaikka. Täällä Irma Bunt (Ilse Steppat) hyvästelee Blofeldin "Kuoleman enkelit", kun he lähtevät Piz Gloriasta.

Mürrenin köysirata-asema oli vain minuutin kävelymatkan päässä hotellistamme, joten pitkän matkustuspäivän jälkeen olimme viimein saapuneet päämääräämme.

Täydellisen Bond-illallisen jälkeen kävimme iltakävelyllä tutkiskelemassa Mürrenin kylää. Tiesimme, että alueella on muitakin hotelleja, joilla on Bond-kytkös.




Hotel Blumental oli sveitsiläisten hiihtoeksperttien koti, kun he kuvasivat elokuvaa "Hänen Majesteettinsa salaisessa palveluksessa" (1969).



Hotel Bellevue oli yksi hotelleista, jossa stuntmanit ja teknikot yöpyivät.




Hotelli Alpenruhissa voit valita syötkö aamiaisen hotellin tiloissa vai Schilthornissa, kolmen kilometrin korkeudella olevassa pyörivässä 007-ravintolassa.
