Citizens of Calamity - WIPs

I have actually been painting. I'm not terribly pleased with how these are going but I think they will look okay for gaming purposes. These are in various stages of painting, the skin and eyes are pretty much done on all of them, none of the hair has been done. As I blow this up with the camera I can certainly seem some rough spots that need to be taken care of. Hopefully a few glazes will take care of that. There are few highlights that are definitely "wrong" and need to be fixed. On the blacks I really want to get that black fading to dark gray look which was pretty typical for the timer period.

I have been using my Games & Gears Kolinsky Sable brushes on these. At this point I find myself a bit frustrated with the brushes. Neither of the two I have used hold their points particularly well and I find myself "fighting" the brush as I work. I have only used the shorter S1 which is suppose to be a wet-blending brush and the #1. I started with the #1 as that is my preferred size for painting and is fairly close in size to the #1 Da Vinci. I have been working with the S1 on larger areas and because its much shorter in length. I still like the triangular shaped handle on my Da Vinci's better. At this point since I don't do two brush blending I don't see the point in having a double headed brush. I certainly can't have paint on both ends at the same time as it would dry on one end before I could use it, partially because of my painting style and partially because of the climate and altitude.

Here are the pictures from after a couple of hours of work (I probably shouldn't throw movies I haven't seen into the DVD player in my workroom when I'm trying to paint, I would get more done). I think I'll block in the rest of the colors and try and get everything finished up this week.
Wargames Foundry (?)

And from the Back. I need to pick out the shoes in another color.

A Dixon Miniature.

After I took the pictures I decided on green for his shirt

Wargames Foundry(?) maybe Dixon

And from the back. Again I need to pick the shoes out in a different color.
Not a huge amount of progress but farther than I have gotten since I was working on stuff for Reaper Con

Wargods of Olympus Kickstarter Next Stretch Goal

Yea, I know you guys are going to get tired of me pushing this one, but I really do love this company and I would like them to finally get to the next level. This kickstarter will get the Wargods of Olympus rules out as well as a good chunk of the line. Getting miniatures released for the various factions has been the biggest problme that Aegyptus has had since its inception. This rules are very good with an innovative initiative system that will keep you involved during the entire game.

They hit the Amazons without a problem and now we are on to the first free mini the Mycenean Titan Hunter. He will be added to most of the larger stretch goals. Looks like a guy that you need on your side!

WoO Kickstarter

Oh and I am actually painting again with 5 western minis on the table right now. Maybe by the end of this week I'll have them finished.

Kickstarter Day 3 Crocodile Games

Crocodile Games has hit their initial funding level of $25,000 to get the Wargods of Olympus rulebooks printed. They are rapidly closing in on the first stretch goal of $35,000 which will unlock the Amazons. I'm not sure if releasing the Amazons this early in the campaign was good or bad its certainly the release that makes it more likely that I will jump on the bandwagon though. I already have a Spartan army and this kickstarter may be the necessary impetus to get these out and start working on them. We will see. I should pull out my Wargods of Aegyptus Basti army though and see if I need anything on that. I know the last unit I was working on was an archer unit that I was doing a lot of conversion work on. Now I'll have to track all that stuff down and maybe take some pictures. Its is one of my few completely painted 28mm armies.

Here are pictures of some of the greens for the Amazons:

Wargods of Olympus Kickstarter

Crocodile Games, run by Chris Fitzpatrick, has started up a Kickstarter project and things look like they are moving along nicely. With this project they are aiming to get their Wargods of Olympus rulebook printed and are release another faction, the Trojans, to go along with their existing Spartan and Myceneans. There are stretch goals to be met and if things fly along well enough they will move forwarding with getting the Amazons, Corinthians and Athenians into production as well. Fitz is a great sculptor, one of my favorites, and the entire line reflects his attention to detail (even when he is employing another sculptor). So even if you aren't interested in the playing the game the character figures are worth picking up just to paint.

Although I haven't played Wargods of Aegyptus in years now it still remains one of my favorite set of miniature rules. It has an innovative movement system that really keeps on your toes and thinking throughout the whole game and keeps both players involved during the entire turn. We have been waiting on Wargods of Olympus for a long time now and for Fitz to say that the rules are deep into playtesting is an understatement, this rules have been in progress for at least 5 years now!

I'm pretty excited about this one. It hits me at a bad time and I'm not sure I can participate in it. Still its good to know that by the end of this year I will be able to buy this stuff makes me feel pretty good.
